Samsung is a household name known for manufacturing high-end TVs, smartphones, smartwatches and wide range of electronic devices. Samsung’s support for innovation and cutting edge technology is what makes the brand stand above its competitors.

The popularity of the Xiaomi, Fitbit and Huawei bands forced Samsung to join the smart band market. Samsung launched Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker back in 2016 followed by Gear Fit 2 Pro in 2017. The two releases targeted elite athletes with the inbuilt GPS sensors and its high price.

There are several fitness trackers out there that can offer advanced features at a fraction of the price. Samsung reacted with the Galaxy Fit for those who don’t want smartwatches but want to track their health and fitness.

The new Galaxy Fit targets a wider market although it lacks the GPS sensor. The Fit has a significantly cheaper price tag and a slimmer design. Samsung Galaxy Fit is a real definition of how Samsung commits to deliver excellent featured devices at reasonable prices.

Apart from basic time, wide device compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity and water resistance features; it supports fitness tracking, multiple workouts plan, sleep tracker, and preset notification replies.

Our Verdict: If you are looking for a simple device for basic daily fitness and health tracking, then Samsung Galaxy Fit is here for you. Considering your low budget, you will get the value for your money. Its battery life is impressive. However, this version of Fit lacks the GPS feature unlike its predecessors. There isn’t a huge selection of watch faces, but the ones available are stylish.

Overview and Features

You can do multiple workouts with Fit, automatically monitor your activities and get inactivity reminders when you deviate from the normal routine. If you’re an aspiring or active swimmer, you can track your swimming for depths up to 50M.

Instead of Samsung’s Tizen operating system, the Galaxy Fit runs Real Time OS, which is compatible with both iOS and Android. There’s only one button on the Samsung Galaxy Fit, so most of your interactions will be performed through the tracker’s touchscreen.

Galaxy Fit lacks inbuilt and third party GPS support, unlike the previous Samsung releases. It could be a drawback in case you want to get distance covered accurately. But that’s a trade off with the device battery life, notification support and its price. Below are the advanced Samsung Fit features in detail.

Design

Standing out with the 0.95-inch display makes Fit look slim and sleek. The screen is scratch-free thanks to the Gorilla Glass protection. With the 120X240 AMOLED display, you get impressive visual colors compared to the Inspire HR’s AMOLED display with a 1.04-inch display. However, it lacks the auto-light adjustment and therefore have to set screen brightness manually.  Additionally, it’s lightweight designs makes it feel like it’s not on your wrist.

Fitness Tracker

Galaxy Fit can automatically detect six workouts, including cycling and running. In case you fail to go on your usual walk, you’ll get a reminder. Following the inbuilt workout plans, it can detect automatically and record your activity. It helps you to track distance covered, speed and time used and motivates you further to hit a record. Therefore, if you are here for fitness goals at a lower budget, then the Samsung Galaxy Fit will best work for you.

Sleep Tracker

Comfortably wear your wearable 24/7 and track all your body aspects easily. During the night, you can track your sleep. Using your Samsung Health app, you can determine the length of deep sleep, REM and light sleep. But the overall accuracy in sleep data is perfect and worth a trial.

Water Resistance

Are you a swimmer? Then you’ve got the Galaxy Fit as a swimming wearable to consider. Keep track of your swimming up to 50M deep. You can shower with it on considering its 5ATM water resistance and water lock aspect to prevent screen activation when hit by water.

Battery Life

Samsung Fit 120mAh battery charges for a few hours but can last you for a whole week when using the basic features. It, however, depends on how you use it. In case you set the heart rate monitor, use basic tracking, check notifications and use short workouts, the battery life will reduce drastically. The only drawback with charging is the inability to charge wirelessly like the recent Galaxy Watch Active.

Onscreen Notification Support

It feels convenient accessing your device notifications on Galaxy Fit. Although the screen size is small, you can check the notification message and reply using the preset reply texts. The notifications are alerted by haptic vibrations strong enough to feel.

Health App

Samsung health app helps track your health and maintain the health metrics for comparisons. Using this app, you can gauge your health wellness and seek medical attention in case of any problem. There are 90+ different workouts you can track via the Samsung Health app.

The best thing is that it’s available for use everywhere and comes with a 1-year warranty plan from the date of purchase. The standard limited warranty covers the product from manufacturer defects.
